LAHORE: Punjab Information Minister Fayyazul Hassan Chohan has paid a lot of tribute to the country’s journalist community.
In his message on World Press Freedom Day on Sunday, the minister said, “Today is the day to pay tribute to the brotherhood of journalists because the media plays the role of the ear and eye for the country.” He said the Pakistani media played its part in providing people access to credible information.
The minister said, “Our reporters are at the forefront despite the difficult situation of the global coronavirus ponaemic.” During false news pandemics around the world, Pakistani media freely and brilliantly carried out their duties. “
In his statement, he said that on the occasion of World Press Freedom Day he wanted to draw the attention of the world community to the atrocities of journalists working in Indian-occupied Kashmir who were targeted for showing the ugly face of Indian democracy.
He said that the cases of Musarat Zehra Gohar Gilani and Peerzada Ashiq were a rejection of the claims of Indian democracy and secularism. The minister said that Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan only after assuming the prime minister’s office paid extraordinary media fees. In addition, the Buzdar government has also announced a special media assistance package on professional reporting during the global pandemic coronavirus, he said.
