KARACHI – An anti-terrorism court on Tuesday acquitted two defendants in the 2016 religious gathering attack in Nazimabad that claimed four lives. The terrorists in the indiscriminate shooting killed four people and injured dozens more in the attack.
The court acquitted the two defendants Ishaq Bobi and Asim Ca-pri and added that the prosecution failed to provide evidence against the accused.
Four people were reportedly killed and many others mistreated when unidentified assailants opened fire at a religious gathering in the Nazimabad area of Karachi in a terrorist incident on October 29, 2016.
The court also ordered the police to release the defendants if they were not wanted in any case. The court also said that plaintiffs in the case could appeal the verdict in the high court within three days of the decision.
According to details of the attack, the attackers entered a camp set up for an assembly outside the residence of a police officer and opened fire on the participants. The religious gathering was held on the street adjacent to the police station in Nazimabad no. 4 areas.
