Former Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi on Monday filed a petition at the Islamabad High Court (IHC) to seek guarantees of protection in cases of illegal appointment.
As of March 31, the IHC had given a four-week guarantee to Shahid Khaqan Abbasi and former oil minister Arshad Mirza in references relating to the illegal appointment of the managing director of Pakistan State Oil (PSO).
Zafarullah Khan’s lawyer has petitioned on behalf of Abbasi.
In his petition, Abbasi stated that the NAB of Karachi had issued an arrest warrant for him.
Meanwhile, he is in Islamabad and cannot appear before the accountability court, Karachi, because it is locked.
Shahid Khaqan in his defense had asked the IHC to give him a pre-arrest guarantee in the NAB case until May 12.
The Accountability Court, Karachi has issued warrants not available to the leader of the Pakistan-Nawaz Muslim League (PML-N) Shahid Khaqan Abbasi in the case of an illegal appointment.
The anti-corruption watchdog proposed a second reference to the leader of the Pakistan-Nawaz Muslim League (PML-N) Shahid Khaqan Abbasi in the illegal appointment of Imran-ul-Haq as managing director of the PSO in the Karachi accountability court.
