- India sent demark today to a senior Pakistani diplomat
- Demarche followed the orders of the Supreme Court Pak regarding Gilgit-Baltistan
- The court allowed Pak to hold elections in September in Gilgit-Baltistan
India has strongly protested efforts by Pakistan to “bring about material change in the occupied territories of Pakistan” in Jammu and Kashmir and said Islamabad must “immediately vacate them”, following the country’s Supreme Court’s order on Gilgit-Baltistan.
India delivered today’s demark to a senior Pakistani diplomat who said that “the entire Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh territories, including the Gilgit and Baltistan regions, are an integral part of India” based on an entirely legal and irrevocable accession.
The Pakistani government or its courts do not have locus standi in areas illegally and forcibly occupied by it, New Delhi said.
“India completely rejects such actions and continues efforts to bring about material changes in the occupied territories of Pakistan in the Indian territory of Jammu and Kashmir. Instead, Pakistan must immediately vacate all areas under illegal occupation,” India said in its note.
“Such actions cannot hide the illegal occupation of parts of the Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh Territories by Pakistan or gross violations of human rights, exploitation and denial of freedom to people living in the occupied territories of Pakistan for the past seven decades.”
India reacted to a Pakistani Supreme Court order on Thursday which allowed its government to hold elections in September in Gilgit-Baltistan and form an interim government during an interim period. The order said Gilgit-Baltistan was within his territory.
