Karachi: Pakistan Cricket Council chief executive Wasim Khan is expected to get a formal extension at the Board of Governors’ (BOG) meeting held in Karachi on Saturday.
Although BOG has a long agenda to deal with one of its main items is to grant an extension of time to Wasim Khan who has also expressed interest in continuing as CEO.
Khan was brought in from England where he worked with Worcestershire club as CEO by Chairman of the board, Ehsan Mani in late 2018 and completed a three-year term this year.
But Mani recently explained that he had asked BOG to grant an extension to Khan so that all ongoing board projects were completed including the domestic cricket settlement and association restructuring and eventually landed top teams such as England, Australia and New Zealand. to play in Pakistan.
Mani’s term also ended in September this year, but speculation is rife that Prime Minister Imran Khan will ask him to continue with his next term.
The BOG will also announce an interim committee to initially run and then hold elections for the six provincial associations that now compete in Pakistan’s first-class / domestic cricket structure.
The BOG will also approve sponsorship for the six provincial teams which PCB says is a major step forward to increase financial returns and incentives for domestic cricketers.
Mani will also seek approval from BOG members to submit official bids for ICC events in the new cycle of ICC events starting in 2023.
