KARACHI: The Pakistan Foreign Office has expressed solidarity with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia a day after the US administration released an unclassified intelligence report containing his assessment of the murder of journalist Jamal Khashoggi.
In a statement issued on Saturday, the FO stated: “We have recorded the public release of the US Government’s unclassified intelligence report, which contains an ‘assessment’ of the murder of Jamal Khashoggi. We also note that the Saudi government called the murder of Jamal Khashoggi a ‘crime. disgusting ‘and’ flagrant violations of the laws and values of the Kingdom. ‘”
The spokesman for the FO recalled that the Saudi government underlined that it is taking all possible measures in its legal system to ensure that the individuals responsible are investigated, punished and sentenced, and that justice is served.
“Pakistan acknowledges Saudi efforts in this regard and expresses solidarity with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
“Pakistan underlines adherence to the rule of law, respect for national sovereignty, and the protection and promotion of human rights by all countries, in accordance with their respective Constitutional frameworks and international obligations,” the FO statement added.
