The Prime Minister’s Adviser on Institutional Reform and Austerity Measures Ishrat Husain and Federal Minister for Privatization Muhammad Mian Soomro on Sunday traveled from the Municipal Railway Station to the train station in Orangi on the Karachi Circular Railway-II (KCR) line.
The Superintendent of the Pakistan Railways Division Karachi Muhammad Hanif Gul welcomed visiting cabinet members at the City Station and accompanied them along with KCR Project Director Ameer Mohammad Daudpota and division officers.
Cabinet members had a detailed description of the railway infrastructure on the way, especially the right lane which was taken 14 kilometers from the recently rehabilitated line between Kota and Orangi stations.
They asked about expenditure, income and occupancy statistics for KCR services. According to a press statement issued by Railways Pakistan, cabinet members praised Railway officials’ efforts to rehabilitate the KCR line and added that such efforts would make the remaining 16 kilometers of the KCR loop work.
“The federal government aims to restructure Pakistan Railways so that it can offer the best possible service to its valued customers,” said Dr Husain. Cabinet members also visited the remaining 16 kilometers of the track from Orangi to Drigh Road and questioned major obstacles to track rehabilitation.
They were briefed primarily on issues in the Green Line intersection area and construction of the upper and lower bridges drastically required in the remaining rounds.
