Usman’s debut helps the Gladiators set a 177 run target for the Sultan | Instant News

KARACHI: Usman Khan made his dream debut when he hit a fierce 50-ball 81 shot to allow Quetta Gladiators to set a 177-run target for Multan Sultans in their fifth round tie in the 2021 HBL Pakistan Super League (PSL) here at the National Stadium on Wednesday evening.

Quetta posted 176-7 in the 20 overs given.

After being invited to hit first, 25-year-old Usman appeared to be in a great mood, playing his shots at will. Usman, who has played only two first-class matches for the Karachi Whites, has scored fifty goals from his dream debut with 33 balls.

Usman, who last year played the T20 event in Dubai while playing for Fujairah, scored three sixs and ten four with his fantastic strokes.

He shared 69 runs for the opening stand with Saim Ayub, who was held inside by Khushdil Shah of South African leggie Imran Tahir after scoring an 18-ball 23 with two fours and one six.

Usman, caught lbw from Imran Tahir, added 53 runs for the second goal with Faf du Plessis, who fell to run-a-ball 17 by one four.

Quetta then continues to miss goals. Imran Khan Senior knocked out Sarfarz Ahmad (3) before Shanawaz Dhani knocked out Azam Khan (17) and Ben Cutting (10) in three balls to leave Quetta at 155-6 in 18 overs.

Azam hit one six and two four in a ten-ball attempt while Cutting hit one four of eight.
