KARACHI: Federal Urdu University of Arts, Science and Technology (Fuuast) will start online academic activities on March 15. According to Fuuast’s spokesperson, the decision was taken at the 30th meeting of the Fuuast Academic Council which was held under the chairmanship of Acting Deputy Chancellor Prof. Dr. Rubina Mushtaq. Present at the meeting were Plt Registrar Dr Muhammad Sarem, Chair of the Faculty of Science Prof. Dr. Mohammad Zahid, Chair of the Faculty of Arts and Person in Charge of the Faculty of Education Prof. Dr. Muhammad Zia-ud-Din and others. The meeting discussed academic and administrative steps and it was agreed that the new semester should start this month. After the second wave of the Covid-19 pandemic, universities switched classes online while examinations were also conducted online. The university will hold online classes from the Karachi and Islamabad campuses while physical classes will also be held at the Karachi campus. Students will be allowed to attend the lab for two days as per schedule. Meanwhile, the group of teachers from the Abdul Haq campus demanded that the ban on student entry to the campus be immediately lifted and that the head of the department be given full authority to start the education process by inviting an appropriate number of students. , teachers and staff in the department under the principle of crowd management.
