The capacity of 3,100 tests will be increased to 5,000: CM Usman Buzdar
LAHORE: Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar chaired a cabinet committee video link meeting to eradicate coronavirus in his office here Tuesday.
The meeting held a detailed review of the situation and the various facilities arranged for the patient.
Addressing the meeting, CM revealed that the capacity to carry out 3,100 tests every day had been achieved by the government and this would be increased to 5,000 in the next few days. There are around 19,000 diagnostic kits available in Punjab and another 2,000 kits will be received from NDMA today (Wednesday).
Meanwhile, testing laboratories are also being established in Lahore and other districts in the province, he said and directed to make the earliest eight functional laboratories. He directed that the implementation of Section 144 was ensured to be strict. Violations of government orders will not be tolerated because these steps are taken to protect the lives of citizens, he maintains. He was directed to take action against those who violated the prohibition on piggybacking. He asked the health department to complete the procurement of equipment needed earlier and added that patients in quarantine facilities or isolation wards would be tested again after 14 days and those found negative would be allowed to go home.
The CM is directed to build separate wards for pregnant women affected by coronavirus in Lahore and other district hospitals. The patient must be given every facility needed at the quarantine center, he asked. PPE must also be given to doctors and nurses based on priorities and their other problems will be resolved by the government, he concluded.
Model van: Usman Buzdar has approved a model van for Elite Force, Highway, and Punjab police. He checked the model van along with IG Police Shoaib Dastgir at the CM Office here Tuesday.
IG police notified the chief minister about the features of the different vans. The CM directs that the safety and comfort of the police personnel on duty must always be kept in mind when choosing a vehicle. This amount has been donated by Punjab government employees to support the government’s efforts to overcome the coronavirus pandemic. Government officials from level 1 to 16 have donated their one-day salary while officials level 17 to 19 have contributed two-day salary.
