ISLAMABAD: The capital’s top citizenship body on Thursday decided to start construction work in the long-delayed New Blue Area and the Phase II Enclave Park Housing Project with a cumulative cost of more than Rs2.2 billion from its own resources.
The Capital Development Party (DWP) Working Development Authority (CDA) has approved two major projects for Islamabad, a statement issued by the authorities said on Thursday.
The approved projects include the development of the Blue Area in Sector F-9 and Sector G-9 and the development of the Phase-II Block Enclave Housing Project -A. The part of the Blue Area that falls in the adjacent G-9 Sector has been referred to as the New Blue Area and is marked to be the capital’s new commercial center.
CDA also plans to auction the plot in the Blue Area in the near future. He plans to develop the blue area at international standards. In this case, said the CDA, basic infrastructure needs to be developed in the area to facilitate the community.
For this purpose, the CDA Development Work Party approved the Development of the Blue Area G-9 / F-9, the Islamabad project. The project cost is estimated at Rs612.25 million and is expected to be completed within 12 months from CDA’s own resources.
The project includes roads, drainage, water supply, sewerage, footpaths, protective works, culverts, landscaping, electrification, and diversion of services of the Pakistan Telecommunication Company Limited (PTES) Electricity Supply Company (IESCO).
To meet the capital’s housing needs, and to conclude projects that have been stuck for years, DWP CDA approved the development of the Phase II Enclave Park Housing Project (Block-A). After approaching the end of development activities in Park Enclave I, as a model housing project in Zone -IV in Islamabad, the development of Phase II of Block A has been approved. The project cost is estimated to reach Rp1,628 billion. It is expected to be completed within 24 months from CDA’s own resources.
This project will include boundary walls, gate houses and security pickets, road repairs, rainwater drainage, footpaths, nullah protection works, sewerage systems, sewers, water supply and rainwater harvesting work, sanitation work, landscaping, works electricity and mechanics, irrigation systems, public buildings, project director fees and staff, employees and facility engineers.
Approval of development work for one commercial and other housing project in Islamabad confirms the CDA government’s current determination to provide holistic and integrated development to Islamabad, authorities said.
In February, city managers had planned to place 26 commercial plots in the Blue Area, including plots for five-star hotels, at an auction in April estimated to generate Rs30 billion. However, all these aircraft were suspended because they were locked to prevent the spread of coronavirus.
CDA has decided to auction off a plot that is only located in the G-9 section of the Blue Area. The G-9 part of the Blue Area in question is part of the Islamabad master plan and after changing the size of the commercial plot, it will be named as the “New Blue Area.”
