LAHORE: National Transmission and Despatch Company Limited (NTDC) is ready to eliminate identified system constraints to provide uninterrupted power supply to consumers in their respective regions. In this connection, NTDC engineers and staff will install a 160 MVA transformer at the 500 kv Rawat Grid Station, Islamabad. To start the process of installing the transformer, power shutdown will be carried out on May 9 to 10 from 06.00 to 1500 hours. NTDC has succeeded in providing uninterrupted power supplies to Rawalpindi and Islamabad consumers.
However, in an emergency some areas of Islamabad can be affected where electricity will soon be restored. An NTDC spokesman said the 500 kv Rawat Grid Station was already considered the main center for the deployment of northern Punjab power. Whereas with the installation of a fourth 160 MVA transformer, the capacity of the grid station will be increased. As a result, this will help improve system stability and voltage profiles, reducing system overload will increase profits.
