ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Imran Khan on Saturday deplored the incident of unfair treatment of corona virus patients, saying this was intolerable and caused fear.

He observed this while leading a National Task Force meeting here.

Chairman of the National Health Task Force Dr. Nosherwan Burki, PM Special Assistant for National Health Dr. Zafar Mirza, Punjab Minister of Health Punjab Dr. Yasmin Rashid, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Health Minister Taimoor Saleem and senior officials attended the meeting.

Imran stressed the need to increase public awareness about the current situation and said as responsible people and citizens, “we all have a responsibility to deal with that person, who has been affected by the corona virus with full responsibility.”

“If people feel the signs of the corona virus, they must do a quick and fearless test,” the prime minister said. In this regard, he stressed the importance of initiatives to launch a comprehensive public awareness campaign to overcome unnecessary public perceptions and fears and direct a coherent strategy in this regard.

“The situation in Pakistan is much more controlled than in other countries,” the prime minister said, referring to the lower levels of the virus in Pakistan than in other countries.

“The situation can improve significantly by adopting a protection approach and increasing public confidence,” he argues.

Provincial health ministers informed participants about the virus situation in their respective provinces, patient care in hospitals, the safety and comfort of doctors and medical staff, and increased capacity for coronavirus testing.
