LAHORE: The cabinet meeting of the Pakistan Medical Association (Center) via video link was held here on Monday about the increasing number of positive corona cases in the country.

The meeting was chaired by Dr. Ikram Ahmed Tunio (Larkana), PMA Center President Dr. SM Qaisar Sajjad (Karachi), PMA Center Secretary General, Dr. Qazi Wasiq (Karachi), PMA Treasurer Center, Dr. Salma Aslam Kundi (Abbotabad), President-Center Selected PMA, Dr. Amir Saleem (Kasur), Joint Secretary-PMA I Center and Dr. Saeed Ahmed (Quetta), Joint Secretary-PMA II Center, attended the meeting.

During the meeting, the participants also recognized nurse services because the world today marks International Nurse Day. That day, which was first marked in 1965, was created by the International Board of Nurses to mark the hard work of nursing staff throughout the world. Around the world, nurses work tirelessly to provide the care and attention that people need during their illness conditions.

That day was also very important because the world struggled to fight the coronavirus pandemic. Nurses around the world are very important to treat sick people during a pandemic. Nurses in Pakistan also play their very important role in treating patients.

All PMA members on this special day salute Pakistani nurses for courageously battling coronaviruses as frontline soldiers such as their colleagues, doctors and paramedics. Unfortunately, three of these brave nurses have died during this war so far. Around 300 nurses and paramedics tested positive for coronavirus in Pakistan. We recognize their diligent service in this difficult time.

The role of nurses: Head of the Lahore Main General Hospital, Prof. Dr. Sardar Al-released Zafar and Executive Director of the Punjab Neuro Sciences Institute, Prof. Dr. Khalid Mahmood said that the role of nurses in the health system is like the backbone and without the participation of the nursing medical community. goals cannot be achieved.

They expressed this view by praising the role of nurses on International Nurse Day on Tuesday (today).

They said that the nurses showed a way to live by restoring the patient’s pulse and breathing. They added that the nursing community had risked themselves to save the lives of others, especially against the Corona epidemic throughout the world they proved that even in the most difficult situations, nurses were always on guard and in charge of humanitarian services. Prof. Al-freed Zafar and Prof. Dr. Khalid Mahmood said that although infected with the virus, the courage and morale of the medical staff did not diminish. They say that the role of the nurse will always be written in gold letters in medical history.

Medical Superintendent Dr. Mahmood Salahuddin, Nursing Superintendent Ramzan Bibi and LGH Superintendent Deputy Nursing Ruqiyah Bano said that nursing was not just a profession but was an introduction to humanitarian services in ancient times. Even women used to do the task of dressing and caring for those injured in the old war. In modern times, all nursing has existed so it is the responsibility of all nurses to show unity so that the nursing sector can develop further. Shamshad Niazi, Khalida Tabassum, Shadaf Rafique, Sidra Asghar, Tayyaba Batool, Uzma Yaseen and Farzana Shaheen said that the University of Nursing should be established in Punjab.
