Nausheen takes over as chairman of the FBR
ISLAMABAD: Nausheen Javaid Amjad Wednesday took over as Chair of the Federal Revenue Board (FBR) after the government notified him of his appointment starting April 8, 2020.
In her first interaction with the media after being appointed as chairman, Nausheen seemed optimistic about the correct arrangements for FBR. However, he argued that because all types of economic activity had almost stopped due to the COVID-19 pandemic, mentioning the desired tax target was irrelevant.
However, he assured that the FBR would strive to collect each and every maturity for the sake of the national finance minister. Nausheen said the FBR had paid one of the highest refund amounts in the short period of last week and there wasn’t a single complaint of error.
Nausheen joined the Pakistan Civil Service in October 1985 by securing 13th place in the CSS exam. He belongs to the 13th general income tax group. Nausheen joined the service in Lahore and then moved to Karachi in 1994 where he held several important positions. In 2002, he was selected for the Large Taxpayer Unit (LTU), the most prestigious unit at FBR where he served until 2015.
He has unique privileges to serve as Commissioners for all LTU zones. In September 2015 he became the Chief Commissioner of the Karachi 11 regional tax office. In addition, he is the Founding President Commissioner of LTU 11.
After moving to Islamabad in October 2016, he was appointed as a member of FATE, FBR. Most recently, in March 2017 he was appointed as a FBR IT Member. He remains a Member of Audit and Member Administration at the FBR Headquarters.
