LAHORE: The Pakistan-Nawaz Muslim League (PML-N) has raised questions about the “open directives” of members of the federal cabinet to the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) and intelligence agents to take action against his leadership.
Punjab PML-N leaders Azma Bokhari, Atta Tarar, Rana Mashhood and Malik Ahmed said on Saturday that the laws of federal cabinet members, especially Shahzad Akbar, could control investigative agents in the country.
Speaking at a press conference in Model Town, they said Pakistan’s Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) leaders had mocked the Pakistani justice system because the Supreme Court had observed that there should be no political interference in the accountability process.
Earlier in the day, Prime Minister’s Advisor for Accountability Shahzad Akbar, speaking at a press conference, urged NAV to submit a new reference to PML-N president Shahbaz Sharif and put his name on the exit control list so that he cannot escape to London to avoid accountability.
PTI leaders were accused of conducting Sharif media trials
Bokhari said when nothing was set by the PTI government in accusing billions of rupees of corruption against Sharif’s family, he brought his residence (Sharif) into politics.
“We demand that Shahzad Akbar make allotment papers from the houses of Banigala and Zaman Park [Prime Minister] Imran Khan, “Ms Bokhari said in response to NAB’s decision to open an investigation into Sharif’s family because” illegally acquired “hundreds of hectares of land in Raiwind to put it in the residence of Jati Umra.” Aleema Khan admitted in writing that Imran Khan had made property on his behalf “Bokhari alleged.
He said the accusation against Shahbaz Sharif and his family members was none other than a media trial by Shahzad Akbar waving paper in a newspaper. He said as instructed by Imran Khan,
NAB is preparing to arrest opposition leaders after Eid.
PML-N alleged that Shahzad Akbar in relations with his brother had occupied the land of Mohammedmian Soomro.
He asked Shahzad Akbar to tell people about criminals involved in sugar and wheat fraud.
Malik Ahmed said there were doubts at the legal level of Shahzad Akbar. “Do you know about the criminal proceedings? You have a fascist mindset and believe in media trials. We are ready to respond to what you call 18 questions,” he said, adding as in the past “Akbar and company” cannot prove anything against Shahbaz Sharif in court.
Atta Tarar said “Shahzad Akbar and the company” who had previously accused Shahbaz Sharif of being involved in the corruption of billions of rupees now threw allegations of alleged corruption of Rs4.9 million against men (Shahbaz) who pay millions in taxes each year.
Meanwhile, PML-N information secretary Marriyum Aurangzeb said the “NAB-Niazi alliance” dug up mountains during the past two years of political persecution and victimization and emerged with accusations of “death, smell and petty” accusations of Rs4.9m corruption.
“Faces who were reprimanded and humiliated in court for false accusations against PML-N leaders are now using public money for a press conference at PID every day. This dirty campaign and witch hunt cannot hide Imran Khan’s mega corruption, “he said.
