LAHORE: Punjab Governor Chaudhry Mihammad Sarwar has said the irresponsible attitude of the merchant community in particular and the general public after loosening of lockdown could put the whole country in a disaster situation. He acknowledged that the middle class and workers were largely affected by the corona pandemic crisis.

Addressing a ceremony held to honor social workers serving during the pandemic crisis on the front lines and then talking to reporters at the Governor’s House on Sunday, he said that coronavirus infections had become a global problem and those who fought in the struggle for humanity deserved respect. from all nations.

Chairperson of the Sarwar Begum Perveen Foundation Sarwar Akhuwat Chairperson Dr. Amjad Saqib and other benefactors also attended the occasion. The Punjab Governor announced that he would complete his target to provide rations to more than one million poor families in front of Eid.

In addition to the rapid spread of terrible corona infections, the government faces a crisis of providing food for all those who do not have the resources to make a living in the midst of the ongoing crisis, he said.

Hunger is another dilemma because it might be fatal if business is not allowed to open, he said. Considering all land realities, including economic difficulties, the government developed a policy to fight the corona and simultaneously launched a financial assistance program.

The governor said more than Rs 100 billion so far has been distributed among people who need to reduce the economic difficulties of poor families and those who lost their jobs during the current economic crisis. He said that the government continues to strive to facilitate everyone in need in accordance with available resources and adding public support in fighting corona through safety measures will help the nation to defeat the corona virus.

Chaudhry Sarwar said that he had previously set targets to provide rations for around 750,000 poor and vulnerable families through the Punjab Development Network but increased the target to reach one million families. “We will complete this target as long as Ramazan” the governor announced and said that the government would continue to support vulnerable families until the corona pandemic subsided and life returned to normal.
