He only slaughtered the Pakistani attack: Kaif recalls Dhoni’s amazing beat

This 39-year-old man stated that Dhoni’s resounding knock made him realize that the goalkeeper would have a long and successful career.

Former Indian cricketer Mohammad Kaif, in an interview with the Times of India, recalled the knock of former captain MS Dhoni MS-148 which was run against Pakistan in Visakhapatnam in 2005 when claiming that the goalkeeper batsman slaughtered the Men in Green attack during the meeting.

The 39-year-old man stated that Dhoni’s resounding knock made him realize that the goalkeeper batsman would have a long and successful career.

“When he (Dhoni) ran out against Bangladesh, no one knew about his ability to finish the match and win the match. “His first two innings were not very good, but then he got a chance in Vizag against Pakistan,” said Kaif.

“Hitting the ball is one thing and tearing the ball with brute strength is another. He only butchered a separate Pakistani attack. I have never seen anyone who hits like that until then. “So it’s a good step to promote it to number 3,” added the former Indian batsman.

Kaif revealed that he could see the X-factor that Dhoni had during their first meeting, two years before the Indian giant made its debut.

“I first saw Dhoni play when I was the captain of the Central Zone in the Deodhar Cup and he played for the Eastern Zone, about two years before his international debut. We have made around 360 and he came in at number 3 for the bats. We thought of attacking him, but he made 80-85 matches with only 40-50 balls. So I just realized that time he was [Dhoni] has a unique X-factor and play style and a good understanding of the game, “he said.

“But before that, I first heard about Dhoni from a friend who had seen him play on TV, play for India A, do the wicket wearing glasses, have long hair and have the X factor. Then immediately, I got a chance to play with him,” he said further.

Kaif represented India in 13 Tests and 125 One-Day International (ODI) scored 624 runs and 2753 runs in each format, respectively.
