The senior leader of the Muslim-Nawaz League (PML-N) and former prime minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi on Thursday called Prime Minister Imran Khan and Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar responsible for the sugar crisis, and called the commodity report an attempt to turn the nation’s attention to giving another NRO to Imran Khan. ‘
Responding to reports about the sugar crisis, the former prime minister demanded that Prime Minister Imran Khan, Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar and PM’s Adviser to Finance Hafeez Sheikh be immediately arrested, adding: “they made all decisions to allow sugar theft”.
“There is not a single name mentioned about the real sugar thieves, Imran Khan and Usman Buzdar, in the state media circus … This media circus is an attempt to divert the country’s attention to give another NRO to Imran Khan.”
Abbasi said it was “an undeniable truth” that Imran Khan had given permission to export sugar, when there was a shortage in the country.
“The truth is that Imran Khan and his cabinet gave approval to raise the price of sugar. “It is true that Imran Khan devised a media circus strategy to save himself and his cronies, while abusing power to use the FIA as a tool,” he continued. Abbasi said PML-N would decide on its response after analyzing the report.
