Pakistan’s Covid-19 count is approaching 50,000; 1,052 lives lost | Instant News

The national count of Covid-19 patients jumped to 49,497 on Thursday, with 17,382 cases reported in Punjab, 19,924 in Sindh, 7,155 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 3,074 in Balochistan, 602 in Gilgit Baltistan, 1,235 in Islamabad and 148 in Azad Jammu and Kashmir. This virus has claimed at least 1,052 lives while around 14,155 coronavirus patients have recovered so far.

A total of 697 new cases of corona virus were diagnosed in Punjab on Thursday, bringing the provincial count to 17,382. According to a spokesman for the provincial health department, 298 new cases only belong to Lahore.

Balochistan reported 106 new cases of corona virus in the past 24 hours, according to the provincial health department. The total number of infections in this province now reaches 3,074. In addition, one more patient died from the virus in Balochistan, bringing the number of provinces to 39.

Balochistan government spokesman Liaquat Shahwani said that 30 percent of districts in the province were untouched by coronavirus. He said that the government had extended the lockdown to 2 June and urged people to simply celebrate Eid.

At least 23 more people contracted a new corona virus in Gilgit-Baltistan, which makes the count reach 602 in the region. According to health authorities, 10 patients have recovered from respiratory ailments.

Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa recorded 340 new Covid-19 cases, with the count being 7,155, the provincial health department said in a statement. With 14 more deaths, the number of deaths in the province has swelled to 365, he said, adding that 2,198 coronavirus patients had recovered so far.

Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah reported 960 new cases in the province.

At least 680 patients also recovered, bringing the number of cases recovered to 6,325. The death toll of the province reached 336.

He said 20 more patients had died of new coronaviruses in the province and 960 people had tested positive in Sindh in the past 24 hours. “So far, the number of deaths from the virus has increased to 336,” he said. “The condition of 143 patients is very critical and 33 patients are still using ventilators.”

He said that currently 13,263 patients were undergoing treatment, of which 11,735 were in isolation alone in their homes, 608 were in isolation centers while 722 patients were undergoing treatment in different hospitals in the province. “On Thursday, 680 patients recovered and went home,” he said. “The number of recovery in Sindh has reached 6,325.”

Providing details of the cases, Murad said that more than 700 new cases appeared in Karachi, 233 of them in the East Karachi District, 169 in the South and 137 in the Middle, 97 in the West, 86 in Korangi and 57 in Malir. He added that 22 new cases were reported in Shikarpur, 17 in Hyderabad and 14 in Larkana, CM Murad added. Sukkur and Qambar Shahdadkot each had nine cases while seven cases appeared in Ghotki.

Eighteen doctors from the orthopedic ward at the Lahore General Hospital were diagnosed with coronavirus on Thursday after which the ward was closed for three days. MS Mahmood Tariq General Hospital noted that the ward had initially been closed for three days and was being disinfected.

According to the report, three doctors and two nurses from the Institute of Neuroscience also tested positive for the corona virus.

Meanwhile, PML-N leader Attaullah Tarar was stated positive for Covid-19. “I have tested positive for Covid-19. Want to ask everyone who has interacted with me in the last few days to complete their tests and take appropriate precautions. Ask for prayer, “he tweeted.

Nine flight attendants and waiters of the Pakistan International Airline (PIA) airline were also tested positive for the corona virus on Thursday. The flight attendants and flight attendants who came from Abu Dhabi to Multan and another from Manchester to Lahore tested positive for the pathogen. Crew members from two flights arriving at Multan International Airport from Kuwait and Abu Dhabi were also tested positive for corona virus.

Two flight attendants and air attendants have been quarantined at the Lahore Civil Military Hospital, while seven have been examined at the Multan Civil Military Hospital.
