Journalist murder case: Two large suspects arrested | Instant News

KARACHI: Two major arrests have been carried out in connection with the murder of journalist Aziz Memon, while police are looking for another prime suspect who is still at large, revealing sources close to the investigation of the case. Aziz Memon’s body (linked to Sindh TV Chanel KTN and the Kawish daily) was discovered from the river on February 16, this year with a mic cable wrapped around her neck. Police have formed JIT, led by Karachi Police Chief Inspector General Ghulam Nabi Memon. JIT then formed a special investigation team to thoroughly investigate this issue. It consists of SSP Dr. Farooq from Nausheroferoze, SSP Tanvir Tunio from Shaheed Benzirabad, DSP Aijaz Memon, Hafeez Abbasi, Inspectors Yar Muhammad Rind and Akbar Channa.

According to sources after the arrest, the suspects will be placed under intensive DNA testing and conclusive reports are awaited to resolve the case. The source further added that the two main suspects had made a surprising disclosure. However, their arrest will only be made public after their DNA connects them to the murder conclusively. The source concluded that many DNA tests were carried out and soon the police would announce a major breakthrough.

The Sindh Chief Minister, Syed Murad Ali Shah, on Thursday also told the media about the breakthrough in the Aziz Memon case.

On the other hand, the journalist’s brother who was killed and the complainant in this case, Hazeez Rehman Memon, has made serious accusations against the district police for alleged incompetence and neglect in his letter written to JIT AIG chief Ghulam Nabi Memon. He complained that those suspected of being released were paid bribes after a cursory interrogation and mainly quoted the names of a senior police officer and a district police inspector.
