What the prime minister is doing about Eid is a hot topic on social media today, after several photos of Prime Minister Imran Khan circulated in the media with claims that he celebrated Eid with his family in Nathiagali, a beautiful resort town in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP ).

There is much ado about the story, because the KP government has banned entry to all tourist resorts in the province amid a coronavirus pandemic.

It turns out the photos are quite old.

Dr. Arsalan Khalid, Focal Person for Prime Minister in Digital Media, issued a tweet that rejected the report and clarified that these photos were taken more than two years ago.

“These are old photos from Nathiagali. I was surprised to see how the media group did not even check the basic facts before posting the news, “Khalid tweeted.

The story is then pulled.

With all other tourist attractions closed in Pakistan, Nathiagali is also locked and closed to tourists because of COVID-19.
