251 stranded Pakistani citizens landed at Islamabad airport from Doha | Instant News

ISLAMABAD: A Qatar Airways flight on Wednesday landed at Islamabad International Airport carrying 251 Pakistanis stranded in Doha, ARY News reported.

National airlines consistently serve citizens trapped overseas due to suspension flight operations following the spread of the coronavirus pandemic.

Qatar Airways flight QR-632 was properly disinfected by CAA staff and passengers were transferred to quarantine facilities after screening and taking samples for coronavirus testing.

As of May 17, Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) had repatriated 43,900 people through 117 special flights, said a spokesman for the national flag bearer.

According to the details, the PIA brought back more than 11,000 Pakistanis who were stranded via 69 special flights between April 1 and May 12, while 32,600 passengers were repatriated via 108 outbound flights.

The spokesman said in a statement that the nationals returned home via special PIA flights operated in Saudi Arabia, Canada, Turkey, Japan, Australia, the United States, United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Britain (United Kingdom).
