Martyrs’ police burials are offered at Police Headquarters | Instant News


Islamabad: Prayers for the funeral of a martyred police officer killed by an unknown attacker on Tuesday night are offered at the Police Headquarters on Wednesday in Islamabad.

Police Inspector General (Islamabad) Muhammad Amir Zulfiqar Khan and other senior officers and police personnel offered funeral prayers. The corpse of the Chief of Police was sent to his ancestral city in Haripur with full official protocol.

IGP, speaking on the occasion to family heirs, said that the heirs’ family would be given all departmental assistance along with educational and medical facilities for children who died.

He said police personnel gave their lives while protecting the lives and property of residents, and their sacrifice would be remembered forever. The criminals involved in the cruel killing of Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Mohsin Zafar and Police Chief Sajjad will be brought to justice, IGP said.

“Every officer and police is willing to fight for people’s lives and property until their last drop of blood,” said the IGP, remembering the sacrifice of officers and personnel in the line of duty.

“The enemy’s cowardice cannot defeat us, otherwise this will help improve the morale of the troops,” IGP said.

IGP has also formed two separate investigation teams to arrest the perpetrators after visiting the crime scene together with DIG (Operation) Waqar ud din Syed. DIG (surgery) and SP (Investigation) Dr. Syed Mustafa Tanveer will lead a separate investigation team to arrest the criminals.

IGP has also sought an explanation from SP (Saddar) and DSP (Saddar) after a video circulated on social media that showed unethical treatment of the body of ASI while transferring it into a vehicle.

Acting SHO Inspector Mohammad Rafique, Duty Officer Abdul Ghafoor, was suspended immediately.

IGP has requested an incident investigation report from DIG (operation) within 24 hours.
