LAHORE: The Punjab government has bought four million metric tons of wheat this season, the highest procurement in the last 10 years in the province.
Punjab Minister of Food Abdul Aleem Khan has set an initial target for the procurement of 4.5 million metric tons of wheat. He has called the Food Department meeting on this issue. Abdul Aleem Khan said he would give good news to Chief Minister Usman Buzdar and Prime Minister Imran Khan.
Thousands of tons of illegally stored wheat were seized every week throughout the province in raids. Raids and investigations are being monitored by the food minister. The Minister took firm action against wheat hoarders and wheat profiteers in each district of Punjab. —INP
