Leading Pakistani-American businessman S. Javaid Anwar Donates $ 200,000 for “Pakistan Prime Minister’s Assistance Fund for COVID 19” Consul General, Abrar Hashmi receives a check at the Consulate’s office in an Ceremony organized by Houston & Karachi Sister Cities Associations. The Mayor’s Office pays a large tribute to Mr. Anwar for his generosity to support relief efforts from Houston to Pakistan:
Houston: Pakistani-American businessman S. Javaid Anwar donated $ 200,000 to “Pakistan’s Prime Minister Assistance Fund for COVID 19” and called on people, especially Pakistanis abroad, to donate generously. While speaking to examine the handover ceremony at the Pakistani Consulate, he highlighted his struggle and success in the US and urged Pakistanis abroad to repay not only the US temporarily to your home country. He also acknowledged the great efforts of Saeed Shaikh who managed the relief effort during the corona pandemic from Houston to Pakistan. The ceremony was organized by Sister Cities of Houston (SCH), the Karachi Sister City Houston (HKSCA) Association & Alliance for Disaster Management (AFDR) and moderated by Muhammad Saeed Sheikh, President of HKSCA, who gave guidance on all assistance coordinated by the Community Collaborative Alliance for Disaster Relief & HKSCA benefits US & Pakistani citizens with the support of more than 600,000.00 from S. Javaid Anwar, which includes the Citizens Foundation, Assistance, ICNA Assistance, Texas Food Bank, CURE project and others.
On this occasion the Consul General Hashmi thanked S. Javaid Anwar for his unparalleled support in the relief work and said that Mr. Anwar was a role model of Pakistani youth in the US to follow his path of struggle, success and enthusiasm to pay back to his home country.
The President of the Houston Host Organization, Susan Young welcomed the guests and praised how citizens for citizens work with Mr. Anwar’s generosity and also praised the great work of the Karachi City Adik Association of Karachi during this pandemic. Representing the Mayor, Chris Olson, Director of Trade & International Affairs, said the effort was an extraordinary example of people who helped people especially during this global crisis. It is important to mention here that Pakistani Prime Minister Imran khan also urges Pakistanis abroad to contribute to this national goal through telethon that is widely broadcast. “The Prime Minister’s Assistance Fund for COVID 19” has been formed to help and combat this pandemic.
