LAHORE: The Lahore Excessive Courtroom (LHC) on Wednesday dismissed as withdrawn a petition difficult arrest of Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP) chief Khadim Hussain Rizvi, his son Saad Rizvi and TLP chief Pir Afzal Qadri.
Justice Syed Mazahar Ali Akbar Naqvi heard the habeas corpus petition filed by Syed Zafar Hussain Gillani.
Through the course of proceedings, the petitioner’s counsel assailed the arrest of TLP leaders and sought instructions for his or her restoration.
He stated the police had arrested the TLP leaders “unlawfully and with none notification”.
Nonetheless, a regulation officer, on behalf of the federal government, produced a notification issued by authorities involved below Part 16 of upkeep of public order ordinance for the detention of TLP leaders.
To this, the petitioner’s counsel sought permission to withdraw the petition.
