SHC grants bail to prime KMC officer

KARACHI: The Sindh Excessive Court docket (SHC) on Tuesday granted pre-arrest bail to senior director coordination of the Karachi Metropolitan Company (KMC) Masood Alam till Nov 29.

An SHC bench restrained the Nationwide Bureau Authority (NAB) and the Federal Investigation Company (FIA) from arresting him.

Alam via his lawyer said earlier than the bench that he arrived on the Karachi airport together with Mayor Wasim Akhtar to board a flight to Copenhagen, Denmark to attend a four-day World Mayors’ Convention on Local weather Change. However, he added, he was barred from flying in a foreign country by immigration workers on the airport for his title being on FIA’s cease record.

The petitioner apprehended that the corruption watchdog may implicate him in a case pertaining to alleged monetary irregularities within the buy of fireside tenders and pleaded that it’s restrained from arresting him.

Earlier, NAB had arrested former director common of parks and horticulture, Karachi Metropolitan Company (KMC) Liaquat Qaimkhani and seized eight luxurious autos, arms, property recordsdata, jewelry and official report of the KMC from his Karachi residence.
