Caleb Williams went to Oklahoma.

In 5-star hotel the defender has announced his intention to play for the Sooners on Saturday, choosing them over other finalists LSU and Maryland.

Dual threat quarterback of Gonzaga high school in Washington, D.C., Williams is No. 4 and No. 1 overall prospect dual threat quarterback in the class 2021, 247Sports composite ratings’. His promise gives Oklahoma 11 players committed for 2021, including seven estimated at 4 stars or higher 247Sports.

That’s what Charles power wrote about the Williams skill set to 247Sports:

“It has a unique sleight of hand and could strike from multiple platforms. Just as comfortable throwing on the move, in the pocket and not have to tread to deliver a well thrown ball. Especially difficult for defenders to corral in the pocket and in the open field. Works with the natural lean body and slips out of gear at high speed. You can get a time to run away from defenders in the open field. Offers scheme versatility with experience playing center, but a set of skills to be a strong player in a fast paced, spread offense.”

Williams makes his relatively small stature (6’1″, 210 pounds) with elite rushing ability and arm strength outside of the pocket. He ran a 4.57 time in the 40-Yard dash at the opening 2019 and has worked to add strength while avoiding losing speed in the pocket that makes it special.

The key to the ascent of the Williams? Kids sour patch, apparently.

“I eat sour candy. My coach and I—ever with the first course—we give you cookies candy before every game,” said Williams, in Jeff Sentell Oh man nation.

Williams is the type of talent that could end up being extended playing time as a true freshman. Sooners and head coach Lincoln Riley is currently assessing the quarterback options this season after Jalen pain on my left for the NFL.

Given the success Riley has been the development of dual-threat defenders like hurt and Kyler Murray, Williams could not select the best landing place for himself when he arrives on campus in 2021.
