Berlin (AFP) – the government of Bayern Munich coach Hansi flick says he intends to keep defender David Alaba and midfielder Thiago Alcantara, who was linked with a move to Liverpool.
“I will do everything I can to make sure that we can keep two such quality players,” said flick, after the Bundesliga Champions completed the double with a 4-2 victory over Bayern in the German Cup final on Saturday.
“I’m trying to keep the squad together as it is at the moment”.
Like Alaba, who scored the first goal in Berlin and Alcantara, and in the second half replacement in the Cup final, only a year left on their contracts.
Alcantara, 29, is a particular concern, because the Spanish media linked him with a move to Liverpool, but the Chairman of the Board of “Bavaria” Karl-Heinz Rummenigge says that no offer has yet been received.
“We negotiated seriously with him and satisfied all his wishes, but he seems to want to do something new at the end of his career,” said Rummenigge daily Bild.
However, the film hopes to persuade Alcantara, who joined Bayern in 2013, “I will do everything possible to ensure that it stays.
“You would have seen that he identificeret 100 percent with the club,” flick added, after the Spaniard enthusiastically took part in the final celebrations of the Cup.
The flick also believes that Robert Lewandowski, the man-of-the-match after scoring two goals in Berlin to leave him on 51 goals this season, is the Golden ball candidate Op.
“When you see that he scored 34 times in the League, is enough to make you think that a player from the Bundesliga could become a world player of the year,” flick said Lewandowski was crowned German League top scorer last weekend for the fifth time.
Bayern, who are chasing the high frequencies are one of the favorites in the playoffs of the Champions League will be held in Lisbon next month.
