Vanessa Bryant took to Instagram on a monumental day in sports history, the anniversary of Kobe Bryant’s last match in the NBA. Today is even more meaningful now and this is the time for Laker fans, and fans throughout the league, to reflect on the careers and lives of icons.
Vanessa has been open on social media since Kobe’s death, writing messages about what he means to her and their four daughters. On the fourth anniversary of his last match with Los Angeles Lakers, the team he spent throughout his career, Vanessa had a message about Kobe’s role as a father and his goals during the second half of his life.
He wrote about his achievements and what he planned before the helicopter crash tragically claimed his life and also the lives of his 13-year-old daughter, Gianna, and seven other passengers.
Vanessa also writes about her daughter Gianna, who is also a basketball player, and hopes to finally join the WNBA. He commented that life is not fair, calling the situation “unreasonable.”
Vanessa writes on Instagram:
“Mamba Day. My husband worked hard for 20 years. Gives everything. All he wants is to spend time with our girls and me to make up for lost time. He wants to be there for every milestone and special moment in the lives of girls. we only enjoyed 3 years and 9 months of retirement we have 2 more daughters, he won an Oscar, he opened a Granity studio, he became the best sales writer 5 times and coached the Gianna basketball team at that time, he worked hard and gave him all 7 days a week like his father. I hope I can go back to that morning, every day. I hope they have a normal local game at 1/26. Life is really unfair. This is absurd. “
The video on the post shows Magic Johnson’s speech before the match, Kobe’s final introduction and highlights of the game.
It also shows the iconic “Mamba out” postgame speech and ends with a moment with his family, including an adorable handshake with Gianna. In the excerpt, Kobe said he was eager to spend time with his family and commented that time went very fast but he was very blessed.
Before the video fades to black, the screen reads, “RIP Kobe and Gianna Bryant AKA Black Mamba and Mambacita.”
