The British Open effectively pushed back its schedule for one year, saying Open 149 was still set for Royal St. On July 15-18, leaving the 150th Open for St. George’s. Andrews the following year.
“I can assure everyone that we have explored every option to play The Open this year, but that won’t be possible,” said R&A chairman Martin Slumbers.
