The Bengals finished 2019 with the worst league record 2-14, making them choose No. 1 in 2020 The NFL concept later this month. The team is widely expected to compile the top-choice Heisman Trophy winner Joe Burrow.
Taylor vaguely comments on the draft Cincinnati plan:
Dalton has been the Bengals’ initial quarterback since they took him in the second round of the 2011 draft. The 32-year-old is under contract until next season and owes $ 17.5 million with a hit of $ 17.7 million, per Spotrac.
Dalton’s future in Cincinnati came under fire when he was placed at the end of October:
Ryan Finley, pick in the fourth round of 2019, starts three matches. The 25-year-old was underwhelmed with 474 yards, two goals and two interceptions at just a completion of 47.1 percent as the Bengals went 0-3. Dalton returns under the middle to finish the regular season.
At his seat, Dalton revealed to reporters Taylor’s Reason: “He said he had to think about the future with compulsory military service, and we had to see what we had in Ryan. And, that’s what happened. … He clearly felt that was the best thing to do for this team, even though I disagree with that. “
Dalton also commented about his seat time being the same day as the trade deadline:
“I think that’s an unfortunate thing. I mean, it happened three hours before the trading deadline. You know, I hope it will have, at least – if he thinks about it, at least let me try to see if I can end somewhere else. At least see if there is an interest in the possibility of trading. At that point, the way things are handled, there isn’t enough time for that to happen.
Taylor said “every option is on the table” in terms of what to do with Dalton moving forward during an interview with Wise Wise Elise Jesse on Monday:
Ian Rapoport from the NFL Network reported something similar on March 25:
Dalton has 31,594 yards, 204 goals, and 118 interceptions with a completion percentage of 62 in the 133 careers that began. He is aged 70-61-2 and has never won a playoff match – on the contrary, lost four wild-card games from 2011 to 2015. The Bengals haven’t won in the postseason since 1990.
Should Burrow land in Cincinnati, a prominent former LSU will be fresh from an unbeaten campaign limited by national championships:
Burrow collected one of the best seasons of all time by the college quarterback, breaking many records, with 5,671 yards, 60 goals and six choices at 76.3 percent completion.
