The first round of Montreal rounds (15th overall) in 2019 was recently named the NCAA Big Ten Freshman of the Year.
Caufield closed his first campaign at the NCAA with 19 goals and 17 assists for 36 points in 36 matches. He finished as top scorer in the conference and ranked second in points.
The right winger became the first rookie to win the Big Ten goalscorer title since Kyle Connor did it with Michigan Wolverines in 2015-16. The Winnipeg striker also won the Freshman of the Year award that season.
In addition, Caufield became the first Badgers player to win the Top Ten goalscorer title since Mike Eaves and Mark Johnson shared the difference in 1978.
The 19-year-old American was named the All-Big Ten first team with Badgers teammate Wyatt Kalynuk.
Voting was held between the trainers and conference journalists covering the actions of the Big Ten.
Caufield will return with Tony Granato’s troops for the 2020-21 season.
