If you still feel nostalgic about Michael Jordan while watching “The last dance” (Episodes 9 and 10 begin at 9 pm ET on ESPN), there are new hotels you might want to visit.
The Graduate Hotel opens Chapel Hill, North Carolina, the location this fall, and it will show Jordan’s detailed reconstruction University of North Carolina dorm room, as shown in the 1983 Sports Illustrated photo shoot.
“The room is an identical replica,” said Graduate Hotels CEO Ben Weprin. “From the ceiling, to the brick wall, to the record player and notes, posters, banners – every part of the room, we have it.”
The Jordan Suite – Room No. 23, of course – not just an exhibition to see. You really can stay in the room too.
But there will be much more to see at this hotel – including sports shoes worn starting in 1983, a $ 5 Jordan check that was cashed after winning a billiard game, and finally, the actual Jordan student ID card.
“We think it will be a fun way to pay homage to him,” Weprin said of the Jordan Suite. “It feels like going back to the past, trying to be Michael Jordan’s head. He is a normal child – even though he is an icon now.”
