Borussia Dortmund have gained many new fans during the Bundesliga restart, especially after the 4-0 win at Revierderby over Schalke last Saturday. New and old supporters will take part in Saturday’s match at Wolfsburg’s sixth place, another tough opponent.
The Black and Yellows won the reverse match 3-0 at Signal Iduna Park and should be liked in this fight, but don’t count Wolfsburg, whose defense can make this a difficult match. Led by American center back John Brooks, he runs a tight ship at the back, allowing the fewest goals (at least 31) in the league this season.
There is a lot at stake for both teams. While Dortmund struggled to capture Bayern Munich at the top of the table, Wolfsburg fought for sixth place to claim the final Europa League qualification spot.
Watch over Erling Haaland, the 19-year-old Norwegian striker who has been wreaking havoc in the Bundesliga since he joined the team during the January transfer window. He has scored 10 goals in only nine league matches. If he continues at that speed, he can finish in the top three gold shoe racing, which is crazy considering he will only play half the season.
Another player to watch out for is 17-year-old American midfielder Giovanni Reyna, who was supposed to have his first Bundesliga started last weekend but suffered an injury while warming up. He should be back Saturday along with midfielder Emre Can, who also missed last weekend’s match. Marco Reus, Axel Witsel and Dan-Axel Zagadou are all still out of line because of injuries.

It will also be interesting to see if Jadon Sancho starts. The 20-year-old England winger has been one of, if not the most attractive talent in the Bundesliga this season. He has pocketed 14 goals (most third) and provided 15 assists (second most) in league matches, tying Robert Lewandowski (26 goals, three assists) for most of the combined goals and assists. But he didn’t get a start against Schalke even with Reyna as a late start. Thorgan Hazard got a nod instead, while Sancho entered in the second round also after the match had been decided when Hazard took the knock.
It is not uncommon for Dortmund manager Lucien Favre to maintain his most productive weaponry; Last season, he regularly used Paco Alcacer as a super sub, which worked perfectly in his win over Bayern Munich and Augsburg. Will this be a trend with Sancho, or just once?
