World No. 27 Nikoloz Basilashvili face three years in prison after being charged with “violence against underage family members” in the Georgian capital Tbilisi on Sunday.
The 28-year-old was arrested Friday after Neka Dorokashvili reported “being physically assaulted” by her ex-husband. Their five-year-old son, Luke, reportedly witnessed the alleged incident.
Basilashvili was released after posting a guarantee of 100,000 Georgian Running (around $ 31,397) and denying the allegations, which fall under Article 126, Part 2, Subsection J of Criminal Code of the country. He began the ATP 2020 4-5 season when the COVID-19 pandemic forced a tour suspension in early March.
