Bug Bounty Switzerland launches the first Swiss platform for ethical hacking. Microsoft provides the infrastructure and expertise needed for startups.
Microsoft is supporting the Switzerland Bug Bounty in setting up the first Swiss bug bounty platform. As part of the Microsoft for Startup Program, companies based in Lucerne get access to specialist Microsoft expertise. In addition, it can operate the platform using the advanced technology in the Microsoft Swiss data center.
The bug bounty program mediates between ethical hackers and organizations to uncover vulnerabilities in IT systems. “Unfortunately, this practice is still too rarely used in Switzerland,” said Florian Badertscher, CTO of Bug Bounty Switzerland. With Microsoft’s help, the startup is now building a Swiss hub to collaborate with ethical hackers. “Microsoft’s support brings us one step closer to our goal of making the bug bounty program accessible to all Swiss organizations and companies,” stressed Sandro Nafzger, CEO of Bug Bounty Switzerland.
Strategic cooperation with NCSC
Individual Swiss companies already rely on the use of ethical hackers to secure their systems. However the platforms used for this purpose still come from overseas. However, especially in the public sector and regulated industries, data location in Switzerland is often a mandatory requirement.
For this reason, Bug Bounty Switzerland has also recently entered into a strategic partnership with the National Cyber Security Center (NCSC). As a result, Florian Schütz supports startups on the advisory board as federal delegate to cybersecurity and head of the NCSC.
Cybersecurity – the main challenge of the digital age
Thomas Winter, Partner Leader and Member of the Executive Board of Microsoft Switzerland, is pleased with the partnership: „Cybersecurity is a major challenge for the digital age. Without it, the most basic human rights such as privacy would not exist. “Therefore, part of Microsoft’s mission is to support companies like Bug Bounty Switzerland that empower others to be more secure. „Microsoft’s drive for security, transparency, privacy and trust aligns with our mission,” added Florian Badertscher. „This is why we joined Microsoft for Startups.”
