India on Sunday deleted Pakistani documents with so-called evidence of India’s sponsorship of terrorism, saying it was a propaganda exercise that would find little interest as the world community recognized Islamabad’s role in supporting terror.
Pakistani Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi and chief military spokesman Maj. Gen. Babar Iftikhar on Saturday released the document along with what they said were intelligence intercepts purportedly showing the involvement of Indian intelligence operations in acts of terrorism.
Foreign ministry spokesman Anurag Srivastava responded to the allegations leveled during a “press conference by the Pakistani side” by saying: “This is another futile anti-India propaganda exercise.”
He added, “The so-called ‘proof’ claims against India are credible, fabricated and are a figment of the imagination. This desperate attempt will find little interest as the international community realizes Pakistan’s tactics and evidence of its terror sponsorship have been recognized by none other than its own leadership. ”
Srivastava noted that al-Qaeda chief Osama Bin Laden, the “face of global terror”, was found in Pakistan, and Prime Minister Imran Khan had “glorified him as a ‘martyr'” on the floor of Parliament.
Khan also “acknowledged the presence of 40,000 terrorists in Pakistan”, and Pakistan’s science and technology minister Fawad Chaudhry “proudly claimed the involvement and success of Pakistan, led by the Prime Minister, in the Pulwama terror attack” in 2019 in which 40 Indian soldiers were killed, he said.
“Despite repeated calls for restraint and abiding by the understanding of the 2003 ceasefire to maintain peace and calm, Pakistani forces continue to be involved in providing cover fire support to the intruders. The incessant terrorist infiltration and the induction of weapons to foment terror activities continues, ”said Srivastava.
These activities would not have happened without the support of Pakistani troops stationed along the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir, he said.
The press conference on Saturday by Pakistan’s civilian and military leadership was “a deliberate attempt on the part of the Pakistani government to shift focus from internal political and economic failures”, Srivastava said. It also seeks to “justify transboundary terrorism, incl ceasefire violations and infiltration across the LoC and international boundaries “, he said.
“We call on Pakistan to end its support for trans-border terrorism. Pakistani leaders never hide the fact that Pakistan has become a terrorist producing factory, “said Srivastava.
“India is not the only neighbor to be targeted as highlighted by the statements of the countries that were also targeted. Parts of the world that are far away have seen traces of terror leading back to Pakistan. Crafting documents and peddling fake narratives will not exempt Pakistan from such acts. We believe the world will hold it accountable, “he added.
