Neymar has admitted that he once considered quitting football.
It is not clear at what point in his career Paris Saint Germain and the Brazilian ace thought of moving away from the game but in an interview with Giffer magazine, it seems he had had enough at one stage.
“One time I wondered if I wanted to continue playing football, because people didn’t like it,” he said.
“One day I came home with a hot head and then I started remembering everything I did to get here. The love I have for football calms me down and it brings me back to reality.”
In the same article, Neymar insists he is immune to pressure.
“I am a person who can handle pressure easily, that’s why I was 10th in the Brazilian team, PSG and I am only Neymar,” he said.
“I’m very grateful to be able to represent teams like PSG and Brazil. I know I have to give 100 percent when I play because that’s what everyone expects.”
Neymar joined PSG from Barcelona to break a record £ 200 million in 2017.
The 28-year-old has been linked with a return to Barcelona but can now be arranged to extend his stay in France.
Neymar submitted a transfer request to PSG in July 2019, but it is understood he is ready to sign a new long-term contract to keep him at the Parc des Princes.
Last month, PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaifi said the club was confident it would agree to contract extensions with Neymar and Kylian Mbappe.
Neymar also made it clear he wants to stay in the French capital after scoring a hat-trick in PSG’s last Champions League group stage match against Istanbul Basaksehir in December.
“I’m very happy here in Paris,” he said. “I am very happy at this club, with my team-mates. The idea of leaving hasn’t crossed my mind.
“We need to talk. We have a very good relationship. I am very happy and we will see what happens in the future.”
