The factory is sealed in SITE to produce substandard PPE
Western District Deputy Commissioner Fayyaz Aslam Solangi at the direction of Karachi Commissioner Iftikhar Shallwani closed the fabric factory on Monday for producing substandard personal protective equipment for doctors and paramedics.
According to a statement issued by the Commissioner’s Office, the factory, which is located in the SITE area. However, the statement did not mention the name of the factory. The factory is suspected of producing unsafe and substandard medical equipment for doctors and paramedics who are fighting COVID-19.
“The equipment should be provided for those who are fighting the corona virus on the front lines,” the statement said. Meanwhile, the commissioner warned other companies that produce personal medical equipment to improve their ways if they produce substandard materials. Companies that make substandard or unsafe materials will be strictly handled in accordance with the law, Shallwani said.
