We only have two games in the NHL schedule for Sunday, but we can see a lot of goals. The Pittsburgh Penguins play their opening game against the Washington Capitals as they seek their first win of the season. The Florida Panthers will also be looking for their first win, but their first two games have been postponed due to COVID-19. They welcomed the Chicago Blackhawks winlessly to Sunrise.

Washington Capitals +100 (William Hill) in Pittsburgh Penguins -109 (FanDuel) – 6 goals

Whenever Sidney Crosby and Alex Ovechkin face off, it’s TV to watch. Ovechkin hasn’t scored a goal yet, but he has two assists. Crosby has scored in every two of his games to start 2021. The Penguins returned home after two heavy defeats to the Philadelphia Flyers by a combined score of 11-5. Tristan Jarry conceded six goals from 25 shots in the opening game and he only lasted 11:30 in the second game after he let three goals go past him on Philadelphia’s first six shots. Jarry is not to blame as the Penguins lost some of the blue line and they didn’t have the strongest defensive unit before departure.

Meanwhile, the Capital won both of their meetings against Saber in Buffalo by a combined score of 8-5. Both Capital and Penguin are in the top 10 in the high scoring odds and dangerous odds allowed at 5v5 last season, and it looks like that trend can continue. I thought we’d see more of the complete game from Pittsburgh, so I’d lean on it for the win, but what ends up is the game. You can get more than six goals at -115 at William Hill.

Chicago Blackhawks +130 (William Hill) in Florida Panthers -145 (FanDuel) – 6.5 goals

Chicago lost its first two games to defending Stanley Cup champions Tampa Bay Lightning by a combined score of 10-3. It was in a difficult position to start the season, but it is likely a sign of things to come as captain Jonathan Toews is without a time limit and failed to replace Corey Crawford in goal. No team allowed more shots, goals, scoring chances or dangerous scoring chances on 5v5 last season than Chicago. Florida was sixth in goals per game last season and submitted the third most goals per game. Taking over six goals is also the best bet for this game.

We are presented with Thursday’s quiet NBA playlist, which means that there will be a big advantage in targeting the starting line bet in anticipation of line movement.

Below are four of my favorite starting bets for locking the NBA whiteboard on Thursday, including the line listed at time of writing (Wednesday night).

Philadelphia 76ers (-2) in the Brooklyn Nets (-110, William Hill)

The Nets looked good in their first game without Kevin Durant, but things might have been different against the 76ers. The 76ers not only hold the best defensive rankings in the NBA this season, but Ben Simmons must be tasked with overshadowing Irving. With an obvious advantage for Simmons on defense, it will be up to the Nets support to shoulder more of the burden, something they will have to do with a lot of difficulty against these Sixers units.

Charlotte Hornets in Atlanta Hawks (-6) (-110, William Hill)

While the Hawks still have exploitable defenses that are likely to keep Vegas deployment close (17th in defensive efficiency), the Hornets ranks 25th in defensive efficiency, which should offset some of that risk. In addition, the Hawks rank second overall in offensive efficiency while scoring the third-most points per game in the NBA (118.3) compared to just 107.3 per game for Charlotte.

Cleveland Cavaliers (+4) in Memphis Grizzlies (-110, William Hill)

Even with the Cavs in the return leg from back-to-back, they didn’t get enough respect against the Ja Morant-less Grizzlies. The Cavs have been much better this season, ranking second overall in defensive efficiency. In the absence of an elite playmaker on the Grizzlies’ side, this could cause problems when it comes to basketball scoring if the Cavs maintain their excellent defensive play. Getting them over three underdog points feels like great value.

Dallas Mavericks (+3.5) in the Denver Nuggets (-110, William Hill)

It’s not a bet I would recommend last season, especially without Kristaps Porzingis, but it’s a different Nuggets defense. Throughout the first part of the season, they finished last in the league in defensive efficiency, a far cry from how good they were last season. On top of that, Luka Doncic has finally arrived for the Mavs, averaging 30 points, 15.5 rebounds and nine assists per game over his last two games. If he continues this way, the Mavericks will have a good chance of covering up.

We are entering Week 11 of the NFL, and there are some incredible games ready for the week that are very important for many teams looking to improve their playoff chances. While Thursday may be this week’s game between the Cardinals and the Seahawks, Sunday features a number of games that will be popular on the sports betting front.

Let’s dive in and look ahead to Week 11 in the NFL, with three marquee games to stake this weekend.

Atlanta Falcons in New Orleans Saints (-5.51 total)

The Saints are only seeded by five points at home against the Falcons? That looks like a line to jump over, especially with it hovering at -4.5 points across multiple Colorado sportsbooks. There’s a reason, because quarterback Drew Brees will miss Week 11 with a fractured rib and a torn lung. Is the spread still worth exploiting with a combination of Jameis Winston and Taysom Hill? Public money will tell us the story, but expect this line to increase so getting Saints at -4.5 or -5 is a value.

Green Bay Packers at the Indianapolis Colts (-2.5, total 51)

Yes, the Packers 7-2 this season. But after an ugly win on Week 10 against Jaguar and defeat to the Vikings at home on Week 8, is Green Bay on the downturn? The legal sportsbook in Colorado has the Packers as underdogs, leading to some value almost every week. In Week 11, this fight takes place against the Colts, who are 6-3 but only 5-4 against the spread. +2.5 Packers will be a popular bet this week, so expect this line to go up before kickoff.

Los Angeles Rams at the Tampa Bay Buccaneers (total -3.5, 47.5)

We have a preview of Monday’s potential NFC playoff between the Bucs and the Rams as the two second-place teams face each other in a game that is critical to the NFC playoff picture. The Rams have been inconsistent of late, beating Seattle on Week 10 but losing double figures to the Miami Dolphins in Week 8. The same could be said for the Bucs, after being so underestimated in the win over the Giants, then getting crushed by the Saints in Week 9 before beat Carolina 46-23 in Week 10. This game’s total is the score here, just 47.5 points with two high powered fouls. There are only four games with a lower total, but you can expect that to increase to closer to 49 with kickoff.
