KARACHI: The Sindh Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) on Saturday claimed to have arrested a banned terrorist Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) who was allegedly involved in planning the murder of the late policeman, Chaudhary Aslam, and was the right hand man of TTP leader Mufti Shakirullah.

CTD Police Investigation Inspector Naeem Ahmed identified the man arrested as Zubair alias Khuray alias Ali s / o Muhammad Umar. He was arrested in Karachi, in the northwestern area of ​​the city of Orangi.

The suspect had returned to Pakistan, suspected of terrorist activity, and was arrested while he was busy delivering weapons and ammunition for the purpose. The CTD also recovered a large number of weapons from its possession. The suspect went into hiding for some time because he was suspected of being involved in a number of terrorist activities.

According to CTD officials, the suspect confessed that the murder of SSP Chaudhary Aslam was planned at the Mufti Shakirullah madrasa, which is hiding in a neighboring country and giving instructions from there to carry out terrorist activities in Pakistan.

The suspect also admitted to carrying out the targeted killings of a number of police officers and other law enforcement agencies on the instructions of Mufti Shakirullah, the police added. Qari Ilyas and Qari Jaan were alleged accomplices in the targeted killings by police officials.

ISLAMABAD: National Assembly chairman Asad Qaiser and Defense Minister Pervez Khattak will not be questioned during the investigation of the video scandal because those who made accusations against them were “liars” and “sold their conscience”, Federal Minister Fawad Chaudhry said Thursday.

Speaking to Geo News, Chaudhry said senior PTI leaders would not be examined by a committee set up by PM Imran Khan to carry out a detailed investigation into the events that took place. The Prime Minister has directed a team of investigators to submit reports and recommendations to him.

“PTI leaders will not be questioned on the basis of accusations leveled by those who sold their conscience because their accusations were unworthy,” said the federal minister, adding that the committee would investigate who benefited from this illegal activity and who lost the game.

Fawad Chaudhry, is part of a three-member ministerial committee along with Human Rights Minister Shireen Mazari and Prime Minister Imran Khan’s assistant on accountability, Attorney Mirza Shahzad Akbar.

Following the 2018 Senate elections, some 20 ruling PTI members were dismissed from the party after reports emerged of them “selling their votes”.

Former PTI leaders Zahid Durrani and Obaid Mayar are seen in the video and were dismissed at the time.

Law Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Sultan Muhammad – who was part of the Qaumi Watan Party in 2017 but joined PTI before the 2018 general election – was also asked to step down after he was seen in the video.

Durrani and Mayar alleged that the KP government distributed the money in the presence of Defense Minister Pervez Khattak and NA Chairperson Asad Qaiser.

These allegations will also be examined by the committee.

Fawad Hussain said former prime minister Nawaz Sharif had adopted an anti-state agenda to defame national institutions including the judiciary and the armed forces.
