Former Ohio State guard D.J. Cardboard is committed to Marquette | Instant News

D. J. Cartons, one of the top transfers this spring, announced its commitment to Marquette on wednesday.

The former Ohio State guard took time off Buckeyes at the end of January, citing mental health, and was transferred from school in mid-March.

Carton, a former ESPN 100 recruitment, played a key role for Ohio State before leaving, starting three matches and playing at least 18 minutes in all 20 matches. He averaged 10.4 points and 3.0 assists, ending his career at Ohio State with 17 points and three assists in a win over Northwestern.

The 6-foot-2 guard is ranked No. 2 in the ESPN transfer rating. Except for changes to the NCAA transfer regulations, Carton will likely have to be absent in the 2020-21 season before having three years left.

Coach Steve Wojciechowski must replace Mark Howard, The All-American first team and top scorer of all time Big East, next season. If Carton qualifies, he must enter right into the starting lineup. If he has to sit down, he will join the group returning for the 2021-22 season.

Golden Eagles brings into the top 20 recruitment classes this fall, including the prospect of ESPN 100 Dawson Garcia and Justin Lewis.
