Lahore [Pakistan], February 21 (ANI): Deputy President of the Pakistan Muslim League (Nawaz) (PML-N) Maryam Nawaz said that the General Elections Commission of Pakistan (ECP) suspected the validity of the by-election results of the NA-75 (Daska) constituency was a “charge sheet” against government led by Prime Minister Imran Khan.
As Pakistan led by Imran Khan Tehreek-e-Insaf has announced that it has won the election. The ECP has said that it suspects that the results of the 20 polling stations were faked in the by-election for the NA-75 constituency (Daska), Dawn reported.
The Election Commission statement of Pakistan is an “indictment sheet” against Imran Khan, said Maryam.
Speaking to reporters in Lahore on Saturday, Maryam said, “There was shooting, voting was slowed, people were killed and ballot bags were stolen. The ECP is looking for you, where is the Punjab government”.
“Where are the chief minister, secretary, police, Inspectorate General and administration,” he questioned.
He further said that he is “pleased the ECP is carrying out its constitutional and legal duties”.
The KPU is of the opinion that the election results in the electoral districts were received with “unnecessary delays” despite repeated contact with the chief executive.
Later, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf led by Imran Khan announced that they had won the election.
Dawn further quoted Maryam as saying that the PTI rigged side elections in Daska and Wazirabad because they knew the PML-N would win by “an overwhelming majority”.
“Their camp is empty. When they go to the field, they must see the turnout in their own camp […] that will make them worry because they worry, “he said.
He further said that PTI had used gunfire to create an environment of fear “to stop PML-N supporters from casting their vote.
“There is a video showing the PTI MNA standing beside the shooting. Their candidate and their people opened fire on the market and on the road which killed two residents,” he said.
On Friday, PML-N’s vice president said workers arrested a man who allegedly stole a bag of votes from a polling station in the by-election for Punjab constituency PP-51 (Wazirabad). PML-N leaders referred to it as “naked rigging,” reports Dawn.
“PTI people were caught stealing votes from PML-N MPA Adil Chatta and Ataa Tarar. Seals were also damaged. Police were part of the plan to steal votes for PTI,” Maryam tweeted.
He also shared a number of videos he called “bomb videos” showing PML-N workers accusing a man who allegedly stole a bag of votes from a polling station.
Historically, electoral fraud in Pakistan has occurred at multiple levels, with the approval of state institutions, institutions, polling officials and, of course, political parties and candidates.
The victory of Imran Khan’s government in 2018 was also allegedly rigged by 11 opposition Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) parties. (ANI)
