After a disastrous New Zealand tour, the Bangladesh national cricket team returned home on Sunday morning.
The Tigers faced the hosts in three ODI draws and three T20 matches but failed to end a winless drought in New Zealand.
The Tigers’ next task is to play a two-match Test series against Sri Lanka, which is part of the World Test Championship. The Bangladesh team is scheduled to travel to Sri Lanka on April 12.
Bangladesh failed to play a good cricket brand in any department against New Zealand. They lost to the ODI series 3-0 before experiencing the same result in the T20I series.

The ODI team led by Tamim Iqbal fought in the second match with a score of 271 runs while taking the first shot. Tamim and Mohammad Mithun each reached fifty in the game, but the hosts chased him with 10 balls to play. Bangladesh was disappointed to show resistance in other matches.
Speed runners are expected to shine on New Zealand’s fast and turbulent surface. But the Bangladesh pioneers failed to do that. Taskin Ahmed cast some good spells during the series but failed to live up to expectations. Country premium pioneer Mustafizur Rahman was also below par during this tour.
Many eyes were on Hasan Mahmud and Shoriful Islam – two new weapons in the bowling arsenal of Bangladesh. Hasan’s New Zealand tour ended with just one ODI as he picked up an injury while Shoriful made a glimpse of the potential to bag two goals in the three T20Is.
Shoriful got some bounce and movement in the New Zealand goal and he managed to trouble the host batsmen in all three matches in the T20I series.

When it comes to batting, the New Zealand tour is one Bangladesh would want to forget. In the ODI series, Bangladesh missed the 200 runs twice, and in the T20I, they were less effective against bowling attacks than the hosts.
Mushfiqur Rahim only played the ODI series and failed to appear even with fifty. He missed the entire T20I series through injury while Mahmudullah Riyad scored 76 in the last ODI, but that’s not quite what is expected of an experienced campaigner. At the top, Liton Das, Soumya Sarkar were also unlucky on this tour.
Nasum Ahmed and Mahedi Hasan demonstrate some great spin-bowling mantras. Mahedi also bagged a few goals, but like any other department, the Bangladeshi spinner also failed to do anything memorable in New Zealand.

Bangladeshi team members are supposed to play at least one round of first-class cricket in the National Cricket League (NCL) ahead of the Sri Lanka tour.
However due to the recent Covid-19 spike across the country, NCL was temporarily suspended by BCB. So the Tigers had to travel to Sri Lanka without playing the cricket version again for a long time. However, they may have a three-day practice game in Sri Lanka before the main draw takes place.
