Islamabad:chief of the Islamabad traffic police (ITP) and ‘politely refused to comply with the instructions of the Deputy chief of Islamabad, which were issued to facilitate passengers travelling up and down in Islamabad Expressway (T Chowk GT road to Korang Nullah bridge), where at peak times morning and evening.
It was at the end of last year that the Deputy Commissioner of Islamabad, in response to the pressing demand from passengers travelling up and down the Islamabad highway to get to their workplaces or schools and back home decided to suspend the movement of heavy traffic from 7 am to 9 am and from 5 PM to 7 PM in the evening. It was widely regarded an administrative decision brought great relief to the passengers.
Then COVID-19 struck. Did the blockage was announced. Was allowed to come to their office only the necessary staff in important departments. Educational institutions were closed. Business activities have been significantly reduced.
The volume of small cars and motorcycles plying on roads and highways has decreased by almost 80 percent. According to the decision of the government, were the only goods vehicles are allowed to ply in these days of “block.”
So, in the absence of a small tube for COVID-19 pandemic no longer need to suspend the movement of heavy traffic at any time of the day. But now, after the “smart” to block the policy, which was adopted by the government in everyday life has been restored, with the result that there is little traffic on the roads and highways, as on ordinary days.
The problem of congestion on the bridge Korang Nullah and further towards the T-Chowk on the GT road came back. The Deputy Commissioner was contacted on this issue and he said that he did not return to the route he has released to suspend traffic was released to COVID-19 pandemic.
The Deputy Commissioner stated that he had not refused his earlier instructions to suspend the movement of heavy traffic from 7 am to 9 am and from 5 PM to 7 PM on this segment of the Islamabad Expressway.
However, ITP did not seem ready to follow those directions. Now that Pete has completely failed to understand that it was not about the narrowing of the road up and down the bridge over the Korang Nullah to T-Chowk on the GT road, which forced the Deputy Commissioner to issue these directions.
It was all about incompetence, incapacity, inefficiency or inability to control traffic flow on this stretch of highway Islamabad despite the fact that are so well aware of the root cause of the problem, which is obviously slow moving traffic!
You can understand the sympathetic behavior, etc. to these transport companies and trailer operators, which are loaded far beyond their real possibilities and crawling on the roads all over Pakistan, leaving the entire rutting and damage to the road network across the country.
But still if ITP does not want to implement the Deputy Commissioner of directions to maintain the normal traffic on this stretch of Expressway in Islamabad, at least they can implement the provisions of the law and take these truckers and trailers to follow the above rules, how to keep in its lane and not overtaking where it is clearly stated, is prohibited.
