A second postmortem examination was carried out on people who were killed during the ‘gathering’ in Karachi | Instant News

The second postmortem examination of a man who died in the alleged Karachi Phase IV encounter took place on Wednesday before a judge at Jinnah hospital.

Investigations revealed that Ghulam Abbas, whom PTI’s Laila Parveen claimed to be his driver, died after being shot three times. Samples have been collected and sent for chemical testing.

The second examination was carried out by order of the Karachi court.

His funeral prayers were carried out at a mosque in Sohrab Goth after which relatives and friends blocked a road and staged a protest against the alleged gathering. “We want justice, give us justice,” shouted the protesters.

His body will be taken to Rahim Yar Khan where he will be buried in the village of Abbas.

Parveen, who was present at the protest, said this was the height of injustice. She had torture marks and bruises on her body. He claimed that the four men who were shot dead along with Abbas were also innocent.

On November 27, five suspected muggers were shot dead during a shootout with police at a house on 5th Commercial Street in DHA’s Phase IV. Police identified the four people who died as Mohammad Abbas, Ghulam Mustafa, Mohammad Abid and Mohammed Riaz. The fifth person was not immediately identified.

They claim that the man is part of the “Seraiki gang” led by Mustafa. The gang used to rob homes after seeking information about the owner from their drivers and domestic helpers. The gang was also involved in robberies in Punjab, police said.

Immediately after the alleged meeting, PTI’s Laila Parveen and her husband’s lawyer Ali Hasnain claimed the meeting was a sham. They said their driver Abbas was among those killed by the police.

Parveen said Abbas was taken by police from their home at around 4:30 am on November 27. He said that the double-cabin vehicle parked outside the house where the shooting took place was his as well.

Her husband said that Abbas had worked for them for the last five years.
