Imran Khan agrees to the plan to improve the Karachi-Quetta road: Asim Bajwa | Instant News

ISLAMABAD: The China-Pakistan Economic Corridor Authority (CPEC) has started preparations to carry out a feasibility study before upgrading the Karachi-Quetta Chaman Road to a toll road, ARY News reported on Wednesday.

CPEC Authority Chairman Asim Saleem Bajwa said in a Twitter message that Prime Minister Imran Khan agreed in principle to a plan to upgrade the Karachi-Quetta Chaman Road to the Toll Road. Bajwa also distributed advertisements to hire consultants to prepare their feasibility reports based on build-operate-transfer (BOT).

He said the plan to improve the 790km-long road that is most frequently visited is important to avoid accidents because of its dilapidated condition and to meet the needs of travelers. In addition, it will also improve the connectivity of areas that were previously neglected.

Earlier on Tuesday, Asim Saleem Bajwa said that Prime Minister Imran Khan was calling for the government to focus on improving the previously displaced areas.
