KARACHI: Pakistani golfer Muhammad Shabbir set an astonishing record in round 67 to overtake first day leader Hamza Amin in the second round of Bank Al Habib 10th Anniversary National Professional Golf Tournament here on Friday at Karachi Golf Club.
Shabbir was top spot on the second day of the tournament, he included a string of birdies to share the top spot on the leaderboard with Hamza Amin.
Both Shabbir and Hamza tied for first place with two days 38 (-6) on aggregate.
Muhammad Ashfaq and Taimoor Khan held the second place on the second day together with 139 (-5). Waheed Baloch follows them in 5th with 140 (-4).
A total of 102 national golfers took part in the lush green competition at KGC. After the cut in the first half, 52 golfers will appear in the third round on Saturday.
This year, the main tournament will be played over 72 holes from March 25 to 28 with deductions for the last two days as per the Pakistan Golf Federation (PGF) rules.
